Jay and Linda Kordich's Living Food Lifestyle

Living foods means sunbaked foods: Foods which have not been cooked in any form over 115 degrees at the most.

There are many people who only consume living foods. Most of these people live in warm climates. If you live in a climate which never gets below 48 degrees Fahrenheit, and can get up to l00 degrees in the summertime, this could be a good lifestyle for you.

Just remember, it may take you years to get to l00%, and for most, this is too much.

Jay and I adopt an 75/25 lifestyle: This means 75% living foods, and 25% cooked. Sometimes, in the summer, or if it’s particularly hot, we will consume all living, and sometimes, in the wintertime, when it’s a cold day, we will eat 70% living and 30% cooked. The best way to create this lifestyle for yourself, is to look at these factors such as:

  • Weather and lifestyle.
  • How interested you are in this lifestyle.
  • Willingness to commit to learning more about living foods.
  • Patience to learn.

Understanding why living foods are so important takes time and somewhat of an ‘unlearning’ of what we’ve been taught for many years. However, most people, even the medical profession will attest to the fact that the less we cook our foods, the more nutrients, vitamins, minerals and enzymes are preserved.

My personal living foods lifestyle has evolved over many years. Jay, of course had been eating living foods way before I married him in 1981. Even though I was a vegetarian, not even consuming eggs, I was much more fond of cooked foods. It took me several years to learn that living foods are a wonderful way to feed my body.

Once I started to consume five fruits daily, my skin became clearer, and my body started to lose weight, and I started to have energy like Jay did. So, for me, it took about six months to a year to adopt this living foods lifestyle.

Sometimes I eat more cooked foods than Jay, even today, yet I realize balance is the key here, and we must learn to listen to our inner voice, our inner direction. Sometimes, when I’m feeling a bit blue, and it’s cold outside, I will make a beautiful warm tofu or lentil soup for lunch. And sometimes, when Jay and I travel, we will eat more cooked foods than usual, just because our bodies are being stressed more than usual.

You see, there are many different kinds of vegetarians. Let me share with you a chart which may help you understand a bit more. You may be able to find your own eating habits here, and if not, perhaps you can see yourself somewhere:
